Living to Please God - Part 3

~Mona

You may know that as a Christian, the Holy Spirit lives in you. But what does that mean? Who is the Holy Spirit? And what does His presence mean? We'll look deeper into this important topic in today's message.

As a young believer you need to know that the Holy Spirit lives in you. The Holy Spirit is a member of the Trinity. Although God is one, He exists in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The desire of the Holy Spirit is not to attract attention to Himself but to direct attention to the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said in John 15:26: "I will send you the Advocate--the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me."

The more you are taken up with knowing as much as you can about Jesus and honoring Him in all you do, the more you show the Holy Spirit has done His work in your life. One of the key ministries of the Holy Spirit is to produce fruit in the lives of believers that is really the characteristics of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Galatians 5:22-23 says: “The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”

When others see this fruit of the Spirit in your life it will be the greatest indication to them that you are a Christ-follower. Laws and rules can be made about what you can say in certain settings, but no one can make a law that keeps you from showing the fruit of the Spirit in and through your life.

When these characteristics are seen in your life, they can be used of the Lord in attracting others to want to know the reason you show these. This may give you an opportunity to point them to the Lord Jesus Christ.

What's something new about God you learned through this message?

Who in your life needs to know this about God?
